The assumption here is that that's her army coming up the road behind her. She's good fighting evil, but I wanted to show the feelings of the victorious soldier after the battle, that it's not all Conan wading joyfully through enemies, hacking a path to victory--that it's painful, that friends are lost, that even the just see things, condone things, do things that can break them inside.

The title of this one is "The Victor", showing a victorious warrior queen after battle with her arm in a "V" for victory, and gravity pulling blood down her sword, dripping on her arm in an upside down "V"—and instead of her arm making a V with a chopping motion (about to chop down an enemy), she's sitting and thinking, holding her head in one hand because it hurts, her sword in the other because she can't let go of it.

This is another book-cover-sized painting, and it came out of some recent reading of Boudicca and a lot of thinking about the famous relief sculpture of Athena—"Mourning Athena".
